John Bjerkan, Managing Partner, Reiten & Co
Mr Bjerkan, a Norwegian citizen, joined Reiten & Co in 1997 and has been a partner since 1999. He has been the Managing Partner for Reiten & Co since 2003. Prior to joining Reiten & Co, he spent three years at Telenor as Project Manager for corporate restructuring projects and, prior to that, he worked as a research analyst at PA Consulting Group. Mr Bjerkan holds an MBA and a Master of Business and Economics degree from the Norwegian School of Management. Mr Bjerkan currently sits on the Board of Directors of Notabene, Zalaris, and QuestBack.
Alastair Breward, Chief Operating Officer, Amadeus Capital Partners
Alastair joined Amadeus in 2005 as chief operating officer, with responsibility for compliance, finance, human resources, information technology and information services. He also supports Anne Glover, the chief executive, in fundraising and investor relations.
A lawyer by training, Alastair was a partner at Taylor Wessing, a London-based commercial law firm, and specialised in advising fast-growing technology and venture capital companies. He spent the earlier part of his career working in the IT industry as programmer, consultant and customer services manager.
He holds an SAB Diploma in Law from Sydney University and a BA in Economics and Philosophy from Oriel College, Oxford. He is a solicitor admitted to practice in England and Wales, and in New South Wales, Australia.
Christophe de Carmoy, Investor Relations Director, Meridiam
Christophe holds a Masters Degree (DESS) from the University of Paris IX Dauphine, an MBA from the University of Michigan (Ross School of Business) and the DESCF (trainee CPA).
Tatiana Chopova, Partner, AlpInvest

Tatiana is a Partner in AlpInvest Partners’ Fund Investments team and focuses on the European market. She joined AlpInvest Partners in 2003 from McKinsey & Co., where she was a consultant, based in Moscow and Brussels, advising multinational companies on strategic and financial issues. Previously, she worked at Credit Suisse First Boston. Tatiana received a BS, with first-class honors, from the University of Bristol and an MBA from INSEAD. She holds numerous Advisory Board seats, including 3i, KKR Europe, Baring Vostok, Gresham, Segulah, Phoenix, Palamon and Vitruvian.
Fiona Dane, Investor Relations Director, ISIS EP
Fiona joined ISIS in 2001 and has been responsible for investor relations and fundraising since 2005 when ISIS became an independent entity. She is responsible for co-ordinating reporting and communication for Limited Partners, and is currently also preparing for raising the successor fund to ISIS IV.
Chris Davison, Principal, Permira
Prior to joining Permira, Chris spent four years at Almeida Capital/Alt Assets where he launched a research business covering the private equity industry, with a particular focus on servicing the informational requirements of institutional investors. He has also worked as a freelance business, finance and economics writer and spent several years as a news agency reporter.
Chris has a degree in Modern History from Oxford University, England.
Christian Dummett, Head of UK Business Development, LGT Capital Partners
Christian Dummett is Head of UK Business Development for LGT Capital Partners (LGT CP), a private equity and hedge fund-of-funds manager with approximately $18bn of commitments and assets under management. Prior to joining LGT CP, Christian was Managing Partner of Corris Capital, a private equity advisory business, having previously been Head of Merrill Lynch's private equity placement business in Europe. After 10 years in international banking, Christian commenced his private equity career in 1998 as Head of Private Equity at Abbey National Treasury Servives where he established and managed a $2.5bn global investment programme.
Bernhard Ellmer, Head of Investor Relations, Augur Capital
Mr. Bernhard Ellmer is in charge of investor relations, fundraising and marketing at Augur Capital.
He joined Augur Capital in 2009. Prior to joining the firm he worked at SAP, the business software company in their investor relations team in New York City and in the Global Communications department at the German headquarter. Mr. Ellmer previously co-founded a famous German internet-start up and helped with the launch of their marketing and communications program. He also worked at Munich Reinsurance investor relations department and within the equity research department of Deutsche Bank AG. He holds a M.S. (Diplom-Kaufmann) degree in international management, economics and law from the University of Mannheim in Germany.

Anne Gales, Partner, Threadmark
Anne is a founding partner of Threadmark and brings a wealth of financial markets expertise including 20 years of capital raising experience in which she was involved in $18bn of capital raising for funds and direct situations. In addition to her fund placement track record in private equity, real estate, real assets and hedge funds, Anne also has hands on experience of equity private placements as well as debt private placements. Prior to forming Threadmark, Anne established C.P. Eaton Partners' European office in 2003 and managed the office until her departure in August 2009. Anne was with Robertsen Stephens in the Private Equity Placement team from 2000 - 2002 where she gained significant direct placement experience. From 1995 - 2000, she worked at Salomon Smith Barney (now Citigroup) in their debt capital markets team focusing on debt private placements. Ms. Gales started her career at Morgan Stanley where she joined its well regarded investment banking analyst program and worked in the fixed income derivatives team and the transportation corporate finance team. Ms Gales has a Masters in Economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam specializing in financial markets.

William Gilmore, Investment Director, Private Equity,SWIP

William is an investment director in the private equity team, which he heads up, and is responsible for making investments in private equity funds globally. The private equity team manages more than £1.5bn in private equity commitments in over 100 fund investments. William is also a member of the advisory committees of a number of private equity funds, a member of BVCA’s Limited Partner Advisory Board and is regularly invited to speak at private equity conferences.
Prior to joining SWIP in 2000, William worked for Murray Johnstone Private Equity for ten years, starting as an investment manager before being promoted to investment director. In 1994 he was appointed assistant fund manager of Murray Ventures.
Between 1987 and 1989, William was an investment accountant with Ivory & Sime, after spending four years with KPMG where he qualified as a chartered accountant.

Jason Glover, Partner, Simpson Thacher & Bartlett
Jason Glover is a Partner in the Firm’s Corporate Department, where he focuses on private fund formation, particularly private equity funds. Mr. Glover is a recognized leader in this area having represented many of the most prominent European and developing market private equity firms in structuring complex global funds. His practice also includes structuring complex employee leveraged co-investment plans for leading global banks as well as advising fund managers seeking to establish ‘carried interest’ and other compensation plans. Mr. Glover has also advised a number of management teams on their spin outs from institutions.
During his career, Mr. Glover spent three years working in the private equity industry. As operations director for AIFAL, then the second largest private equity manager in Asia, Mr. Glover was responsible for the day-to-day operational management for several funds including Asian Infrastructure Fund. He gained further commercial experience as COO of what is now Duke Street Capital, where his role included active fundraising for an LBO fund which quadrupled funds under management.
Mr. Glover received his LL.B. from the University of Bristol in 1988. He has been named “Private Funds Lawyer of the Year” by Who’s Who Legal for each of years 2008 through 2011. Mr. Glover is a former chair of the IBA private funds committee, was recently identified by Private Equity International as one of the 30 most influential lawyers in private equity and is a member of the board of the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association.
Richard Green, Chairman, August Equity
Richard co-founded August Equity in 2001. He is now chairman of the firm and chairs its Investment Committee.
He previously spent 13 years at Kleinwort Benson (latterly Dresdner Kleinwort Benson) where he started his private equity career. Prior to that, Richard spent five years with Coopers and Lybrand where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant.
Richard has a BA in Accountancy and is a member of the council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (“ICAEW”) and is a vice chairman of the Corporate Finance Faculty of the ICAEW. Richard is a past chairman of the British Venture Capital Association and still represents August Equity on the BVCA’s Mid Market Committee. Richard is a regular speaker at private equity events and conferences.

Dana Haimoff, Managing Director, Portfolio Manager, JPMorgan Asset Management
Ms. Haimoff joined the Private Equity Group in May 2002 and is based in London. She has almost 20 years experience in private equity both on the investment and advisory side. She is responsible for sourcing, recommending and monitoring private equity funds, co-investments and secondary investments on behalf of institutional and private clients of JP Morgan Asset Management. Prior to joining the Group, she was a Vice President with Merrill Lynch’s Investment Bank in the private equity funds group where she advised institutional clients about private equity investing and worked alongside General Partners. Ms. Haimoff’s experience includes conducting due diligence on potential fund managers and advising clients in evaluating their alternative asset class commitments. Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, Ms. Haimoff worked in corporate finance at Prudential Securities structuring private equity and debt placements and at Ernst & Young as an International Tax Consultant. She earned a BS with honours in major from Skidmore College and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
Janusz Heath, Managing Director, Capital Dynamics
Janusz is a Managing Director in the Investment Management team at Capital Dynamics and has over 27 years of private equity experience. Janusz has a leading role in developing the firm’s emerging markets expertise and during his tenure as head of Asset Management, he was instrumental in building the Asset Management team at a time of substantial growth for the firm. Prior to joining Capital Dynamics, he was head of Central & Eastern European private equity at Allianz Specialized Investments (formerly Dresdner Kleinwort Capital), hav-ing previously been deputy chairman and managing director of PTP-Kleinwort Benson. Janusz was a member of the Wilton Park Advisory Council (a FCO agency) and is a non-executive director and trustee of HCT Group (a leading UK social enterprise), a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and holds an MBA from the University of Aston.
Anne Hutton, Principal Banker, EBRD

Anne Hutton is a Principal Banker within the Equity Funds Team at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Anne has worked with funds since 1996 focusing first on donor (government) related equity fund programmes and then on the private equity funds portfolio. Similar to a fund-of-funds investor, she works with established fund managers to support their subsequent funding as well as with new fund managers in their efforts to set up first time funds in the region. She represents the EBRD on the Investment Committee and Advisory Board of a number of private equity funds in which the EBRD was either the largest single investor or one of the largest.
Helen Kenyon, Head of Communications, Preqin
Helen Kenyon joined Preqin in 2006 and now heads up Preqin’s communications strategy. During her time at Preqin, Helen has overseen the production of numerous publications, projects and surveys. She has frequently spoken at industry events and been interviewed by financial correspondents. Prior to her current position, Helen headed up Preqin’s private equity investor research team and oversaw the maintenance of a comprehensive database of over 4,000 investors in private equity. Helen has a BA from the University of Southampton.

Charles Lemon, Partner, Agilitas Partners

Charles is a partner at Agilitas Partners, where he is primarily responsible for fundraising and investor relations. Agilitas Partners is a new Private Equity firm established in 2010 by an experienced team of former colleagues, and is currently raising its first fund.
Prior to joining Agilitas, Charles spent 6 years as partner responsible for distribution at Matrix Private Funds Group, a London-based placement agent with a specific focus on the Lower Mid-Market.
Prior to joining Matrix, Charles worked as a Relationship Manager at Brown Brothers Harriman & Co covering Financial Institutions in Belgium, France, Monaco and Spain.
Charles holds a BA (Joint Hons.) in French and Spanish from the University of Bristol.
Jeremy Lytle, Investor Relations Director, ECI Partners
Jeremy Lytle is ECI’s Investor Relations Director. He helped lead the recent ECI 9 fundraising which closed in December 2008 above its £400m target, he joined ECI in 2007 having spent the previous three years as head of Investor Relations and Chief Operating Officer at FM Capital Management, a hedge fund manager. Prior to that he spent seven years with Cazenove & Co and Cazenove Capital. Jeremy had an early career in the British Army. Based in London, he has an MA in English from the University of Edinburgh, is a fellow of the Securities Institute and also studied Economics at London Business School. Jeremy is a member of the BVCA’s Responsible Investment Advisory Group.
Stephen Marquardt, CEO and Head of Investor Relations, Doughty Hanson
Mr. Marquardt joined Doughty Hanson & Co in February 2000. He currently serves as CEO and Head of Investor Relations and is based in London. At Doughty Hanson he has been responsible for raising Doughty Hanson & Co Technology Ventures I and II, Doughty Hanson & Co European Real Estate II and the two most recent private equity funds, Doughty Hanson & Co IV and V, which focus on mid-market pan-European buyouts.
Prior to joining, Mr. Marquardt was a Managing Director of Investment Banking and Head of the London office of the Global Technology Group of Merrill Lynch. He spent a total of 22 years at Merrill Lynch.
Mr. Marquardt has a Masters degree in Business Administration from Harvard Business School, a Juris Doctor from Loyola University (Chicago) and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Northwestern University.
Ross Marshall, Chief Executive, Dunedin Capital Partners
Ross negotiated Dunedin’s buyout in 1996 and has led the development of the company from a small Edinburgh based investment trust manager into a leading UK mid-market buyout house.
Dunedin opened its London office and raised its first limited partnership fund in 2001, acquired Sand Aire Private Equity in 2005 and raised its second £250m fund in 2006. Funds under management have grown from £50m to £500m over the past fifteen years. Dunedin has been successful by focusing on lower mid-market buyouts with good growth potential – a strategy which has delivered strong returns to Dunedin’s investors.
Ross is a Chartered Accountant with a BCom with distinction from the University of Edinburgh. He spent two years with Price Waterhouse and ten years with 3i in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Birmingham. He joined Dunedin in 1994 and has over 27 years private equity experience. His responsibilities include chairing Dunedin's investment committee and investor relations. He is a member of the BVCA’s Mid-Market Committee and is regularly invited to speak at industry events.
Ray Maxwell, CEO, Acrostic

Since 2005 Ray has developed a portfolio of interests. He created Acrostic Limited, a regulated advisory company, to provides strategic advice to private equity groups and corporations. He is also Chairman of Core Capital VCT IV and a director of Core Capital V which provides mezzanine finance to SMEs in the UK, advises Invesco Private Capital (IPC), a New York private equity group and he also advises Allenbridgeepic, a UK pension consultancy, on private equity issues.
Prior to 2005 he was a Partner of Invesco and General Partner of IPC responsible for non-US investments. He began his investment career at Postel in 1974.
Ray graduated in Geography and Economics from London University in 1973, holds an MBA specializing in Finance and is a member of the Securities Institute.
Kelly Mayer, Partner, Lion Capital
Kelly Mayer is a Partner of Lion Capital and is responsible for Investor Relations. Prior to the formation of Lion Capital, Kelly served with Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst for seven years as one of two professionals responsible for investor relations. Prior to joining Hicks Muse, he served with the institutional consulting operations of both Watson Wyatt Worldwide and SEI Corporation. Kelly received his BS from the US Naval Academy and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Vince O'Brien, Director, Montagu Private Equity
Vince O’Brien is a director of Montagu Private Equity and has worked in the private equity industry for over 20 years.
Montagu Private Equity is one of Europe’s best known private equity investors and invests primarily in management buyouts of companies operating across a wide range of industries in the UK, France, Germany and the Nordic region.
Vince is also a former Chairman of the British Venture Capital Association. He has therefore been involved in representing the industry across a broad range of issues affecting the BVCA’s members and the UK entrepreneurial environment in general.
Alex Scott, Principal, Pantheon
Alex focuses on the evaluation, selection and monitoring of European investment opportunities and is a member of the European Investment Committee. Alex has specific responsibility for UK and Italian primary opportunities. Prior to joining Pantheon, Alex worked for the West Midlands Pension Fund, latterly as a senior investment manager responsible for the pension fund’s private equity portfolio. Before this, he was a portfolio manager at Gartmore Investment Management. Alex received a BSc in Economics from the University of Southampton. Alex is based in London.
Buchan Scott, Partner, Duke Street
Buchan Scott: Partner, joined Duke Street in 1999 from industry. Prior to that Buchan worked as a solicitor specialising in corporate finance and transactional work including private equity. Buchan has a degree in law and MBA and is a member of the BVCA Regulatory Committee. Duke Street has been active in private equity since the late 1980s during which time it has raised 6 mid market buy out funds.
Guy Semmens, Partner, Argos Soditic
Guy Semmens is a partner with Argos Soditic and heads their Swiss operations. Argos Soditic is an independent European mid-market private equity firm based in Switzerland with offices in Geneva, Paris and Milan. The firm advises €750 million of capital focused on small to medium sized enterprises investing in buy-outs and expansion capital opportunities.
Investments which Guy has led include Kermel (the French specialty flame retardant business) and Maillefer (the Swiss cable machinery company) where Argos Soditic made 11 and 13 times their money respectively, as well as Kagi (the Swiss chocolate wafer brand), Misapor (foam glass aggregates), Axyntis (fine chemicals) and Swibox (Swiss engineering solutions for the machinery industry). Guy joined Argos Soditic in 1996 and in addition to his investment activities is also responsible for investor relations and fund raising in the firm. Prior to joining Argos Soditic Guy was part of the management buy-out group of Clifford Chance. He is a UK national and is a qualified solicitor in the UK.
Ian Simpson, Partner, Amala Partners

Amala provides strategic advice to private equity firms, focusing on capital raising, brand development and marketing and organisational change.
Ian co-founded Amala in 2008, having spent the previous 15 years as a Director of Helix Associates, a private equity placement agent, which he co-founded in 1993.
Previously, Ian was a Director of Berkeley Govett (UK) Limited and before that an Associate Director in the Global Private Equity Placement Group at Continental Bank NA. Over the course of the last 20 years, he has advised and raised capital for a broad range of private equity firms including Graphite Capital, Exponent Private Equity, Bridgepoint Capital, Madison Dearborn, Piper Private Equity and Quadriga Capital among others.
Ian has an MA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from Oxford University.
Koos Teule, Director Investor Relations, Guilde Buy Out Partners
Koos Teule joined Gilde Buy Out Partners in 2007 and is based in Utrecht. Previously he worked for Rabobank International in various accounting, finance, risk management and strategic advisory functions and most recently as advisor to the Managing Board. Prior to that, Koos worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers, ING Barings and Rabobank Nederland.
Koos has coordinated fundraising for the recently raised Gilde Buy-Out Fund IV.
Hannah Tobin, Principal, HarbourVest

Hannah Tobin joined HarbourVest in Boston in 1996 and relocated to HarbourVest's London-based subsidiary in 2001. She became a vice president in 2003. She currently focuses on relationships with European investors and non-U.S. partnership investments. Her prior experience includes assisting in the management of her family's restaurant business in Dublin, Ireland. Hannah received a BA (with honors) in Economics from University College Dublin in 1992, where she has also pursued development studies at the post-graduate level. Hannah speaks French.

Penny Walker, General Counsel, Campbell Lutyens
Penny Walker joined leading specialist placement agent and financial adviser, Campbell Lutyens, as General Counsel in 2010. Prior to joining Campbell Lutyens, Penny spent over eight years at Barclays Capital where she headed the private equity, infrastructure and principal investments legal team, advising on fund structuring, fundraising, and fund investment activities of these businesses globally. Prior to that Penny was a Corporate Lawyer at Baker & McKenzie in London and Rudd Watts and Stone (now Minter Ellison) in New Zealand.
